Some of the strange and weird creatures wander around this planet, had embedded inside their intellect a virus. A powerful and immortal virus that grows and takes over their minds. And so it it, slowly and with any rush, that first takes just a few minutes at a time, that it turns into hours and when least expected it has take over their entire life, one page at a time.
It's the virus of the writer.
Some of those creatures lose it at infancy, after their first few fantastic stories, but to some others it lasts more time, silently incubating, until one day it decides it's time to take over your destiny.
To me, it happened in 2006, when out of the blue and without warning, emerged the need to write a story, without having the slightest idea on how to begin. In my mind and full of naive confidence, I thought “How difficult has to be writing a novel?”.
Enough to say, it didn't turned out to be the joyful ride among the bus stops of the unused ideas, that I previously imagined, but rather a harsh and tiresome climb to the Mount Everest of creativity, where you end up happy of reaching your goal and covered of literary war wounds.
In my experience when I'm writing, I must live, feel, enjoy and suffer each and every one of the emotions, situations and difficulties that happen in the lives of my characters. In the process of writing and in further readings, if I'm not feeling happy by their fictitious triumphs, their fears in adversity, their pains or emotional wounds, if I'm not feeling any of that, them I'm not doing a very good job.
In 2007 I left my first draft incomplete, for several reasons. The beginning wasn't compelling enough, two scenes felt loose and without spirit. But the main reason, was the difficulties to publish the work that had taken a year to write. So my story and the characters who inhabit it, had to sleep a very long dream of 9 years, until the end of 2015.
It was then when, effortlessly and with a lot of time at my disposal, that immortal virus returned evermore strong, to control my emotions. I discovered a new literary world order, where the rules of the literary establishment, was a thing from the past. Where the dream of every writer, publish a story, it does not depend on anybody's opinion to make it real. So, full with enthusiasm and renewed literary spirit, I gave myself the task to finish my incomplete manuscript (prehistoric analogy, since I wrote everything on a laptop) and get it registered.
Finally the day arrived, and on November 25th, 2015, my humble work came out to the light.
